Sound ridiculous, right? How can a virtual pinboard help with your job search? I’ll tell you.
It’s not only an online location to organize your professional materials, i.e. résumés, portfolios, info-graphics, but it’s also a fresh way to market yourself to the world. As a blog is used typically in tandem with a website of finished products, Pinterest encourages users to pin ideas, materials, objects, inspirations, you name it. This automatically can give employers, colleagues, creative-finders a way to get to know you and your personality outside of “workplace” mode. Always keep in mind, this should be a professional platform and it might not be a good idea to include racy or questionable pictures, it’s a great way to show what you’re passionate about and what shapes you as a potential job/freelance/volunteer candidate.
If you haven’t already checked it out, you should. There are numerous job search boards on Pinterest too. CareerBliss is a great example of a job board thinking outside the box; they’re thinking about your workplace experience and culture, suggesting great companies to work for, and offering inspirational comments and quotes to keep in mind.
Since everything included on Pinterest needs to be a image, here’s where you can really get creative! Think about reinventing your résumé and making a cool info-graphic/timeline about your experience, what about creating a brand for yourself, could that showcase your design experience? If you are a writer and have published work online, pin that page! If you are a filmmaker, pin your videos! Pinterest is a great way to be unique and showcase your talent. Try it out today!

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a amazing job with this. Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!
