Insect Drawing

After looking at several artworks by Picasso and Escher, young artists learned about shading, volume and proportion to recreate images of insects by fragmenting an image into segments. Each segment was treated like an individual object and shaded with chalk pastel and pencil.



Perspective !!!

Young artists made a trip to the Chicago Cultural Center to look at the architecture and learn about one-point perspective drawing of the interior of the Cultural Center. They learned to identify horizon line and vanishing point within a space to present a three-dimensional image on a two-dimensional picture plan.

Adrienne’s Middle School Painting and Drawing campers spent their week in camp on many different projects: · They studied complementary color schemes and created still-life paintings on canvas board. · They created Picasso-inspired portraits while experimenting with color and abstraction. · They assembled Surrealistic collages after viewing paintings in the museum.

Using paper cutouts, pastels, and oil crayons, students in Selena’s drawing class created dreamlike images by combining various subjects and experimenting with foreground and background layering.



Synthetic Cubist Drawings
