In Wallace Steven’s poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, he moves around the blackbird as subject- as a moving target– using a variety of poetic devices to capture it from different angles. This curated section features artists who move expansively around their subject, creating around the same central themes with varied materials or approaches. In some instances, art works on view are pulled from larger, growing bodies of work. In others, the project represents an intense period of experimentation or investigation. Or Just After positions art works as project-driven inquiries rather than finite statements.
