In the months leading up to the MFA exhibition, the Curators and Curatorial Fellows conducted hundreds of studio visits (literally – there are 133 artists exhibiting this year and we visited most of them two or three times, more in some cases). Sometimes we were shown finished pieces, sometimes we were given a vague description, sometimes were shown a sketch.
