John Bowers is a designer, author, and chair of the visual communication design department. Through professional practice and self-generated projects, and writing, he examines the strategies and ethical implications inherent in the creation and dissemination of print and digital experiences.

His non-profit professional practice work has been published in American Institute of Graphic Arts; Communication Arts; CMYK; Graphis; ID; and Print, and sold through Printed Matter, New York; Project for the Arts, Washington, D.C.; and the New York Museum of Modern Art Store. His writing has been published in Voice: AIGA Journal of Design and Design Observer, and his second book, Introduction to Graphic Design Methodologies and Processes: Understanding Theory and Application was published by John Wiley earlier this year.
