Pile Hunk Stage
Gallery X, January 29–February 23
Reception: Tuesday, January 29, 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Cody Tumblin (BFA 2013) and Kayl Parker (BFA 2013) deliver an aesthetic experience of an artist’s work through pieces that explore the process of making an image. Flattened space, solid color, and simple compositions act as an entry into seeing objects through a formalized lens. The photographic and two-dimensional works included in this exhibition function to reveal the illusion of surface, exposing props posing as still lifes, and delving into humor through the imposition of emotions onto casually painted gestures. Acting more as “products” rather than “figures,” the subjects portrayed in Pile Hunk Stage dialogue as static objects within the variability of formal situations.
