THE FIRST CAMPUS CENTER IN THE HISTORY OF SAIC. CRAZY, RIGHT?
Opening May 2012.
The space will be two stories in the Sharp Building, housing a lounge, café, exhibition space, and more. Couches, coffee, and community.
The lounge and café will offer ample seating with booths for quiet conversations and studying as well as communal areas for an open, social atmosphere, providing opportunities to engage with students and faculty in other departments. You won’t have to meet your professor at Cosi anymore!
The space also offers the first SAIC student meal plan. If you opt out of the meal plan, you can still purchase food from the café.
The Center will provide the Student Union Galleries (SUGs) with a permanent home: a highly visible, 1,763-square-foot gallery space. Show your work to the SAIC community and whoever happens to be passing by.
The space will prominently feature LeRoy Neiman’s largest mural ever, Summertime on the Indiana Dunes (1965).
More facts to come.
